Mae writes a character full of passion and determination who is slow to make friends but fights for everyone she cares about. The excitement of the revolution of freeing the Fliers alongside a human-run sympathizing group known as The Sparrows, the book takes you through trial after trial of Sydona's journey - being hunted, surviving, and dealing with real trauma. The ending leaves you wanting to know more and sets the reader up for anticipation of the next chapter. As her debut novel, it appears Mae will certainly surprise us with continuing development in her writing.

Amazing story. Suspenseful and weird plot twist. Did not expect half of what happened. Made me want a sequel like right now.
I really enjoyed this book! The characters were very engaging and believable, I can almost imagine them as people I might meet! The story was great, I think it could become a television series very easily!
Couldn't get enough of this book! Seriously. I couldn't put it down. If you've been craving an action packed modern fantasy with an original twist, get this book. Get ready to fall in love with the characters, too. Raoul, the main character's best friend and fairy, is by far my favorite. I think every great book should have a trickster type like him. Keeps things interesting.

Laura Mae's debut novel was well worth the cost, plus more. The story was very well written and the characters were amazing. You really felt as if you were there watching the story unfold, with many huddles and unexpected twists along the way. Sydona had quite a challenge ahead of her and I loved reading about her journey. The story demonstrates that love has no fear, no form, no bounds. Laura Mae narrated the story beautifully and has me craving more from this young author.
'Fliers' features an amazing cast of characters from all walks of life. (My personal favorite is Willow the Widowed). I was able to picture every person and every setting so vividly in my head thanks to Mae's descriptions.

The story is charming, keeps a good pace and has an exciting climax-- plus a nice segue into the sequel! I look forward to reading the next installment!
Hard to put down. Story moves along developing a perspective of right and wrong from a new vantage point. Sydona and her crew overcome their flaws and imperfections for the freedom all creatures desire. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
